description: This map depicts the NOAA Fisheries general ESU/DPS boundaries under the U.S. Endangered Species Act, as well as the historical population structure of the species. These boundaries represent the freshwater spawning areas occupied currently and historically. Only the areas coded as Accessible (in attribute "Class") constitute the defined ESU/DPS boundary. The ESU/DPS boundaries were intersected with the California Interagency Watershed Mapping Committee watershed boundaries to show species status for each salmon river highlighted in the 'State of Salmon in California' website.
